This story begins as do most of them. I was a young woman. I spent 2 years in the army and needed very little. The army told me not only said that I needed, they made sure I got it, and led a quiet life.
Then as life unfolds in the usual way, I married and began to create a home. This is where the "stuff" begins. We were young and had not had a lot of money, so we happily "made do" with what us, thinking that we were rich! As time passes, over time, well you know... a full House packed with "stuff".
Forty years later, I'm sitting (alone) in a House with a lifetime of "stuff" and I think that... "time to do another thing". So I did. Sold a home and moved this kind of things in it. Then I started to a lot of things... the sale has given some of the things and threw stuff. I'm now at about 20% of the original substance. It is more than enough, and now I'm having a hard time deciding what kind of things should still go, as I want to empty at least 25% more.
During this time of 'lighten the load', I found Miss minimalist and jumped on board not only serve much more domestic things, but also clothes. (I couldn't face clothing until the wall furniture has been clarified). Clothing is now by 75%, and you know what? I know really, even what is missing! Sometimes, I think, now, 'where is this red belt' kind of thoughts. I look at the basket of the belt (with only 4 left) and know that it's gone... and happily choose one of those instead.
Perfect sound, so far, isn't?
Meanwhile, I also paid a huge credit card debt. Then, I downplayed the debt as well.
Here is the situation: I lost my job and have little income but I can get on it that my house is paid for. Apparently the people over age 60 are unfit for work.
Here's my question: with my debt brought its fruits and my 'stuff' reduced, I wonder. "Where am I? ''
I don't want to go spend money and get into debt again... but I sort of nothing to do. So, I'm looking for my 'price' I guess I thought was there, at the end of the achievement!
I have a Kindle and sometimes read books, but after awhile, I get bored. Most of my friends are either dead or have moved. I have no family. I joined a group of meeting to meet people, I didn't really have a good time, and I had to pay for a meal. I give up after 4-5 attempts.
Here where I live it is too hot or too cold most of the time out. I've seen all the museums and local attractions so many times, I could give... so tired of who visits. I am of a different nationality than most people here, so we have little in common. They are fairly friendly, but they do not want to be "good friends".
I tried to volunteer in both groups, but found this gas money and having to buy lunch somewhere, more they want volunteers to also give them money... made me feel like an idiot. It was like having a job and not paid for it, but they still have the same expectations. I can not work at a job that cost me money to do it, that makes no sense. I think that volunteering is not for me.
I spend time with my little dog. We took some classes and go almost every day at the Park, but there must be more than this life.
Most of the time, I am surfing the web and I have more than 2 million points to the Khan Academy.
I don't want to whine, but really, I am at a loss to know what to do.
So many readers here say joyfully the life at the end of the Rainbow. I find that too. I'd love some suggestions! What is someone else in the same situation?
